Hide your IP address in Australia and New Zealand (Anonymous Surfing)

online privacy warning

Recent laws passed in Australia and New Zealand mean that you can’t download torrents without worrying about being caught by the authorities.  That sucks.  Not only that, it opens up lots of doors for what privacy online means, and how much the government monitors our online activity. That’s why there’s more an more people learning about anonymous surfing and trying to hide their IP address in Australia and New Zealand.

But privacy concerns go beyond torrents and P2P. The fact that you can be held accountable for what happens on your IP means that anyone hijacking your home internet could potentially get you in trouble. You could be fined or even banned if your neighbor hacks your wifi and does things you wouldn’t do!

These are two simple reasons why people are starting to search for ways to surf anonymously in Australia and New Zealand. One popular method of online privacy is using proxies. These are popular and free, but there are some things you need to know before you start using proxies.

1. They expose your IP to people you don’t know
2. Many don’t allow P2P and Torrents
3. You can’t access many TV streaming sites (BBC iPlayer, Hulu, Netflix)
4. Limited bandwidth, lack of anonymity, and unreliable

This is why a virtual private network is your best choice. VPNs are private services that can be used to allow you to browse the internet without fear of being spied on. VPNs are better than proxies because they fix many of the problems listed above. You can stream video, run applications with a private IP, and you are not subject to many of the bandwidth/speed limitations of proxies. Check out some reviews of my favorite VPN services below.
