Watch The 2014 Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy Anywhere
The Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy for 2014 is currently in progress, and it is a great event to watch online, particularly as we are getting up to the last games, including the final. This is always the best time to tune in if you are looking for the most exciting games and the most evenly matched teams.
The title of the trophy might seem a bit confusing to people in the United States, but to be clear this is field hockey rather than ice hockey. After all, field hockey (technically just hockey) is more popular in many parts of the world than ice hockey.
At the time of writing, there are four teams left competing for a spot in the finals. These are the teams from Germany, Australia, India and Pakistan. All of these teams have a strong chance of making it into the finals and it was Australia who won the last tournament in 2012 (for the 13th time).
Personally, I want to see whether Australia is able to hold onto its position or whether someone manages to oust them.
How To Watch
The challenge with watching any type of sports online is figuring out how to do it. Some of the time you can get lucky and find a site or even a television channel that is playing what you want to see. However, this often doesn’t happen, particularly if you want to watch something that is somewhat obscure in your country.
An additional challenge is regional restriction.
Regional restriction is a common tool that websites often use. This gives them the power to determine who can see their content and who can’t, on the basis of where users live in the world.
One well-known example of this is Netflix. Even if you have an active Netflix account, you cannot simply log onto the website from a different country. In fact, there are even different versions of Netflix based on where you live, and you cannot access one outside of your area – at least not without some trickery.
Most of the time, regional restriction is all about copyright. For whatever reason, a site might not have the authority to show a given piece of media outside a specific area. So, they block anyone outside of that area from seeing the content.
It can be very frustrating to finally find a site that is streaming what you want to see, only to find that you are blocked because of your physical location. Thankfully, there is a way around this.
Your IP address is what identifies your location to other websites and so the trick is to find a way to change it. A VPN can do this by masking your IP address with one from a VPN server. This will make it look like you are living in another part of the world entirely.
VPNs are actually fantastic options for bypassing just about any regional restriction and you can choose your VPN based on where you want to seem to be.
There is a range of different VPN providers to choose from, but my personal pick is one called VyprVPN. I love the reliability of this company as well as how great its customer service is.
